Ski Austria
Where to ski and snowboard in Austria
Austria is a great country to choose for a skiing holiday and the second most popular country in Europe for British skiers after France.
Austrian skiing is getting a reputation for wonderful snow, steep slopes, powder chutes and sweeping runs - all at cheaper prices than other European ski areas. Austria also means glaciers - providing a series of ski resorts that offer all year round skiing.
Austria and skiing tends to mean great apres ski. The Austrians are known for their ski hard - party hard ethos - there are some infamous apres ski bars - particularly Mooserwirt and the Crazy Kanguruh in St. Anton which is situated at the top of the last piste leading to the town which makes for a very interesting last run of the day! The Austrians are known for table dancing as well as schnapps.

Traveling to Austria
Austria is well served by flights from all over the UK. The primary ski airports for Austrian ski resorts are Salzburg, Innsbruck as well as Munich in Germany a possible option for many resorts.
Innsbruck has good rail connections to the rest of Europe, but getting the train from the UK is not overly easy. From London Waterloo station, take the Eurostar to Paris, from where you can take a connecting overnight train from Gare de L'est to Munich, and then another connection to Innsbruck via the Eurocity train.
Driving to Austria tends not to be done for week long ski holidays as it's about 1000km from Calais generally to Austrian ski areas. So unless you are going via another destination, plan to stay for a longer amount of time or need your car, we'd suggest flying or taking the train to Austria.
