Ski Chalet Details

Chalet la Moussière is a 200 year old Savoyard chalet set in the old village square of the popular village of St Jean d'Aulps, a short trip in our shuttle to the main Portes du Soleil ski area and only a few minutes from the resort of La Grande Terche.  The chalet offers en-suite accommodation in a "home from home" atmosphere.

In winter we offer catered holidays to skiers, in the summer bed and breakfast with a half board option.

Chalet Food

We have never met a catered chalet customer that doesn't consider the food to be one of the most important aspects.  We cater for all dietary requirements and use the best local ingredients.  Our menus are varied and include the popular regional dishes "Raclette" and "Tartiflette".

A typical days menu would be:

Cooked breakfast of egg and bacon with cereals, yogurts, bread and jams, fruit juice, tea and coffee

Après-ski snack of home baked cake or quiche with tea, coffee or squash

A four course home cooked meal served on large oak refectory tables similar to the menu below:

Hot Goats' Cheese Tart
Warm puff pastry tartlets topped with tapenade, tomato, parsley and goat's cheese, served with salad drizzled with an oil and balsamic dressing

Parma Ham Wrapped Salmon
Oven baked salmon fillet wrapped in parma ham and seasoned with dill tips served on a mountain of creamy potato and leek mash, accompanied by glazed roasted vegetables and broccoli florets.

A tower of almond biscuits layered and topped with raspberries and creamy marscapone, served on a bed of shaved dark chocolate surrounded with a tart but sumptuous raspberry coulis

Ski Resort and Chalet Location

Ski Chalet Chalet la Moussiere is in Morzine, France

St Jean d'Aulps is one of the most historic villages in the area. The 13th century abbey is built near the site of the death of the pilgrim St Jean. The town grew in importance around the abbey long before the town of Morzine was established around the slate mining industry.

The village has it's own ski resort, La Grande Terche, which has stunning views, quiet skiing, friendly staff and is excellent value, albiet small.  It is part of the Portes du Soleil domain.  Lifts open in the summer for walkers and mountain bikers.

The village is still thriving, and unlike it's close neighbours, it has not turned into a "resort" and is bustling all year round.  There cosmopolitan bars, super restaurants, butchers, bakers, "8 à Huit" convenience store, town hall, post office,tourist information and much more.
