The town of Les Menuires is a classic example of the throw-'em-up-fast architecture of many French ski resorts built in the 1960s and 70s. The resort is essentially divided into three tiers: Reberty, La Croisette and Preyerand, with accommodation at all levels. The ugly architecture is mostly concentrated around the main base of La Croisette, and the resort is shedding its poor image with the creation of smaller, more sympathetic off-shoots such as the chalet-style village of Hameau de Marmottes.

Bars and clubs

Leeberty nightclub in Reberty is classic ski-resort cheese and very popular. The Passport in La Croisette is the biggest club in the resort. In Preyerand, the lowest part of the resort, is The Yeti - if you like banging Dutch apres-ski this is the place for you.

Eating

All budgets and all tastes are catered for in Les Menuires, from traditional Savoyard to the increasingly traditional (well, in Alpine ski-resort terms)Tex-Mex and Italian. Le K (T+33 (0)479-414202) is the restaurant of the Hotel Kaya - it serves high-end lunches and dinner. A short walk from the base of La Croisette is the cosy L'Etoile (T+33 (0)479-007558) with tables centred around a giant fireplace. La Ferme de Reberty (T+33 (0)479-007701) is one of the best places to eat in Les Menuires, yet prices are still pretty reasonable.
