Les Gets

Find Chalets Resort Guide to Les Gets

Les Gets shares its local ski area with Morzine and is divided into two areas: Chavannes (linked to Morzine) and Mont-Chery. Both areas offer tree-lined blues and reds, although Mont-Chery is quieter with slightly more challenging terrain. The quickest way to reach the Portes du Soleii ski area is by ski bus to the gondola at Les Prodains, whichgoes straight to Avoriaz, although you can reach the circuit by lift from Chavannes.

Situated between Lake Geneva and Mont-Blanc, in the heart of “Portes du Soleil” country, Les Gets (1172 metres – 2002 metres ) reveals itself as a true corner of paradise that many would prefer to keep secret.

Skiing in Les Gets

Respecting traditions, providing a warm welcome and quality services are the main concerns here. Typically Savoyard, Les Gets has kept its mountain village feel thanks to its authentic architecture of wood and stone chalets, as well as the historical and cultural treasures boasting a rich heritage.

A top quality diverse ski area means that all skiers will be happy here. As a family style village-resort, Les Gets is proud of its Family Plus label, ensuring the irreproachable quality and safety of child-care facilities. In Les Gets, you can leave the village with your skis on and escape into the pine forests and pastures. Come and discover the pleasure of skiing and the splendid panoramic views at the heart of the extensive Portes du Soleil area.

Beginners

Take the Chavannes Express to the greens up top and blues into town. The blues off La Rosta and Pointe de laTurche are gentle and sunny.

Intermediate

Warm up on Chavannes' long blues before tackling the reds and blacks on Mont-Chery. Les Gets is a great resort in which to build on skills: tree-skiing on La Turche; bumps under the Nauchets Express lift to the skier's right of Ambresalles; carving on the Mont-Chery reds; and developing stamina on a Portes du Soleil circuit.

Expert

There's great tree-skiing, easily accessible off-piste (particularly over towards Nyon) and some challenging blacks (particularly on Mont-Chery). There are loads of off-piste cut-throughs to find; we particularly like exploring under the little-used Perri res Express up to LaTurche.

Powder

Les Gets is quieter than other Portes du Soleil resorts, meaning powder doesn't get tracked out as quickly. Head for the Chavannes bowl, where favourite runs include: under the Chavannes gondola; dropping into a small bowl from Ranfoilly into theTetras red and down to the Charalez Express; and the Combe d'Angolon, accessed from the Chamossiere chair.
