Les Contamines hides a surprising amount of ski terrain behind a relatively small village. The majority of visitors come from nearby resorts, so you tend to find a lot of French locals on the slopes rather than holidaying Brits. With the lifts located outside the village, it isn't really ski in/ski out. But you can take the lift system right to the top of the Aiguille Croche, where the views are magnificent, and ski all the way back to the car park. It's also extremely easy to access Hauteluce-les-Contamines on the other side of the mountain, which has some great blue and red runs.
