Practical information and Apres Ski guide to Les Arcs

Sleeping Arc 1950, the newest and easiest on the eye of all the resorts, tends to offer the better high-end accommodation. More affordable accommodation is on offer in the other villages In 1800. The cheapest options are in Bourg Saint Maurice.

Bars and Club

ARC 1950 opens till 0400 and hosts the best DJs on the mountain, while Le Chalet de Luigi - a restaurant with a cool bar and nightclub, Le Bachal - has the potential to keep you off the mountain till quite late the next day.

Best Apres-ski

1800 tends to get most of the action, with Le Gabotte, Ambiente and Benji's Bar always full. In 2000 we recommend Whistler's Dream and Red Rock, both of which do great food.

Shopping

There are the usual resort facilities in Les Arcs - think pricey souvenir shops - but much more choice and value down in Bourg. Self-caterers should definitely head down the valley to the huge Super U.

Eating

At the top end, cosy Le Chalet de I'Arcelle in Arc 1600 is a gastronomic delight, while for those craving seafood the Bergerie de Raphael in Vallandry specializes in crayfish (chose your own from the tank) and Savoyard cuisine. The Mountain Cafe is a Les Arcs favourite, serving goodTex-Mex in a great atmosphere. For a sunny afternoon try Mamie Crepe, while the Italian food at Casa Mia in 1800 is a worker favourite. For local specialities we recommend La Santaline.
