La Plagne Practicalities

Practical information and Apres Ski guide to La Plagne

La Plagne actually consists of 10 villages, each linked by roads, lifts and pistes and varying markedly in terms of altitude, attractiveness and services. Sleepy, more traditional villages like Montchavin and Les Coches sit lower down the mountain, while the bigger, more functional and decidedly uglier towns of Plagne Centre, Bellecote and Aime-la-Plagne are located around 2000 m and provide excellent access to the almost endless terrain.

Bars and clubs

Season workers and holidaymakers mix at No'BI'm (No Problem) in Plagne Centre, where bands and DJs pump out cool music every night. La Luna is the other bar in the centre to hang out (and drink towers of beer), while in Aime-la-Plage try La Montana, a smallish bar with live music, themed evenings and sheepskins on the chairs.

Shopping

With so many villages there's plenty here from supermarkets to boutiques and speciality wine shops.

Eating

Locals swear by La Grolle in Plagne Centre for amazing, locally produced and sourced restaurant food. In the charming village of Champagny en Vanoise, Les Verdons Sud (T+33 (0)621 -543924) offers g lacier views, a sun-drenched balcony and slow-cooked traditional cuisine. If you're in Belle Plagne, try the always busy, cheap and cheerful Le Matafan (T+33 (0)479-090919).
