Chalet Santel is a cosy, ski-in-ski-out chalet in the heart of the Paradiski area (425km of piste, 2 glaciers and superb off piste). Santel is built in the traditional Savoyard style in the middle of Montchavin, a pretty farming village with panoramic views over Mont Blanc. The chalet sleeps 8-10 and has a convenient location opposite the bubble lift, next door to the ski shop and ski school, close to the nursery slopes and one lift away from the Vanoise Express gondola which links La Plagne and Les Arcs.
Chalet Santel has wooden beams, an open fireplace, cozy mezzanines and sunny balconies. The location is spot on – it is the closest chalet to the bubble lift and you can ski back to the door. There is also a large roof terrace where you can enjoy the sun set over Mont Blanc.
The chalet sleeps 8-10 in two rooms and a mezzanine, there is one bathroom, one shower room, two wcs, an open plan living and dining area, terrace and easy access to the local nursery slopes as well as the Paradiski area’s varied slopes and fantastic off-piste.
CHALET LAYOUT
The chalet is built around a spacious open-plan kitchen, living and dining area with a log fire which is the perfect place to relax after a day on the slopes.
The first bedroom is split level and sleeps four; with a double bed downstairs and two singles and washbasin on the mezzanine; there is a bathroom and wash basin next door.
The second room is a family room which sleeps four in a double bed and built in bunks. There is a shower room next door and both these rooms have a balcony.
The final two beds and washbasin are on a mezzanine in the eaves above the living area. Headroom is limited and access is by a wooden staircase – lots of rustic charm and a cosy place to sleep.

Chalet Santel is fully catered with breakfast, afternoon tea and 3 course evening meal with good regional wines provided on 6 days.
We like to look after people and want you to get the most out of your holiday so we start with a good breakfast: porridge, eggs, cereals, jams, fresh bread from the bakery, toast, yoghurt, fruit, tea, coffee and juice.
Once you’re set up for the day we’ll help out with suggestions on the best runs, restaurants, guides, picnic spots and anything else which you might want to know.
After a day on the slopes we’ll have afternoon tea ready. Some days it might be a cake, others biscuits or flapjack and we’ll always have a pot of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, bread, jams and nutella to fill the gap before dinner.
We light the fire and enjoy a chat about the day, some more tea or a few beers from the honesty bar then after a hot shower we’re ready for a relaxed dinner. If you have children we can do an earlier tea time so you can get them into bed, playing a board game or in front of a DVD before you sit down to eat.
We serve food which we like to eat: fresh, tasty and filling meals with ingredients sourced, whenever possible, from local suppliers. We also have a generous supply of good red and white house wines.
Everyone wants something different from their holiday so we are happy to cater for most dietary requirements including vegetarians and vegans. We also like to help celebrate birthdays or other special occasion that fall during your stay. Please let us know your group’s requirements at the time of booking so we can prepare for your arrival.
Ski Chalet Chalet Santel is in La Plagne, France
THE SKI AREA
Paradiski is one of the largest and most varied ski areas in the world combining the resorts of La Plagne and Les Arcs. The range of skiing is superb with 239 runs ranging from beautiful tree-lined slopes to breathtaking glacier skiing. La Plagne is often described as an intermediate resort but alongside the gentler blue and green slopes there are plenty of challenging reds and blacks and the area is renowned for some of the best off-piste in Europe.
The local slopes wind down through pine and birch woods with rustic mountain huts –some of which have been turned into cosy restaurants. Take a couple of fast lifts and you are into the main part of La Plagne which has a wealth of pistes for all abilities. Montchavin is also ideally positioned for fast access to Les Arcs; the chalet is just one lift from the Vanoise Express cable car, which crosses over the valley to Peisey in 4 minutes, to access the slopes in Les Arcs.
With wide, sunny runs through the trees the Peisey-Vallandry sector of Les Arcs is great for beginners and intermediates. For advanced skiers the views from the top of the Aiguille Rouge glacier are not to be missed and the 7 km descent from the top of the glacier to the lowest lying village through 2,000 vertical metres is one of the longest and most varied pistes in Europe.
The slopes are fabulous but if you love the exhilaration, beauty and the technical challenge of powder skiing then prepare to fall in love with the outstanding off-piste of the Paradiski. The area has tree runs, powder bowls, big faces, narrow gullies and richly deserves its reputation as one of the best off-piste locations in the Alps.
THE VILLAGE Montchavin, 1,250m, is in the heart of the Paradiski area and something of a hidden gem amongst the modern purpose built resorts of La Plagne and Les Arcs. The village is north-facing and holds the snow well the whole season and as you’d expect in a French farming village goats, cats and the occasional goose still roam the streets. There is a pretty village chapel, cobbled streets and traditional buildings. The village also has more modern attractions including a small cinema which shows some English films, several restaurants, shops and a couple of bars to enjoy an après ski beer or vin chaud.

There's no doubt that the profile of La Plagne has gone through the ceiling since the establishment of the Paradiski ski area. Previously overshadowed by its illustrious neighbour, Les Arcs, the added muscle of the Les Arcs region has hoisted La Plagne right up the ladder. Which is just as well, as...
