Ski Chalet Details

·      Chalet Mathilde is a lovely chalet just 5 minutes walk from the centre of the mountain village of Les Coches.  Just 20 metres from the piste, only 100 metres from the nearest lift and normally you can ski back to the chalet!  Only 15 minutes from the link to Les Arcs.

 ·      The chalet sleeps 12-14 people with 6 bedrooms; 2 twin bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, 3 twin bedrooms with ensuite showers and 1 family room sleeping up to 4 with ensuite shower. All the bedrooms have their own WC and wash-hand basins and some have their own balconies.

·     There is a large warm lounge with huge open fireplace, TV, video, DVD and hifi. There will be a selection of videos and CD’s in the chalet for you to enjoy but you are also very welcome to bring your own.  There will also be a few books available so if you wish to borrow or swop please do.

·      The chalet is of a traditional alpine chalet design, with wooden beams throughout giving a warm and relaxed atmosphere. The views from the chalet are stunning with Mont Blanc and the Northern Alps stretching into the distance.    

·        We supply all the bed linen and towels. Outdoor shoes are not allowed in the chalet so it is a good idea to bring slippers or indoor shoes.  Please note this is a non-smoking chalet, however, you are welcome to smoke in the garage.

Please note that we can not show part booked weeks on the availability calendar and that w/c 8/1, 15/1, 22/1, 12/2 and 12/3 only have a few rooms left.

 THE VILLAGES

We are situated in the mountain villages of Montchavin and Les Coches.  Les Coches and Montchavin are 1 km apart, with their own ski area at the heart of the massive Paradiski area of La Plagne/Les Arcs.

Les Coches is a village of traditional style buildings with a combination of old world character and contemporary comfort, with a few local restaurants and bars.  There are 2 bars and 1 night club open till late for those of you who can dance until 4am!

Montchavin is an authentic Savoyarde village and a vibrant ski station.  As night falls the village lights make for a magical setting in this picturesque mountain village.  Access by vehicle to the centre of the village is strictly controlled which means there is very little noise to disturb the tranquillity.

Chalet Food

SUSTENANCE

Wonderful home cooked meals, for which we receive many compliments, are provided on a half-board basis; breakfast, afternoon tea and three-course evening meal including plenty of wine (Vin de Pays).

We offer a few Savoyarde treats such as Tartiflette, Beaufort cheese and the grolla (a mountain speciality - you might even like it!).  For those who like their curries we do a mean Bhoona!  Vegetarians and vegans are very well catered for, many return to stay with us year after year.  If you have any special dietary requirements please give us details on the booking form.

We have one day off during the week when you will have the opportunity to sample the regional cuisine at a local restaurant (this is not included in your holiday price), we will be happy to arrange this for you.

SKIING & BOARDING

Our chalets and apartment are in the heart of the Paradiski area (420km of piste) offering more than enough variety for any level of skier or snowboarder.  The Paradiski area comprises of the 2 huge ski areas of La Plagne and Les Arcs linked by the new Vanoise Express cable car.  Montchavin-Les Coches is perfectly placed in the centre giving quick and easy access to both areas.

The Paradiski area has something for everybody.  For beginners there are two local areas specifically designed for you in Les Coches with nursery slopes separated from, but next to, one of the tree lined runs, which leads back to the chalet. A network of snow cannons on the lower slopes ensures that you will normally be able to ski back home.

The wide blues and reds of the Paradiski area are perfect for intermediates and the blacks on the Bellcôte Glacier and Aiguille Rouge are testing enough for any advanced skier or boarder. The famous off-piste route down the North Face of the Bellcôte Peak is well worth experiencing - you will need a qualified guide to show the way, we can vouch for the fact that it is awesome.

This is a great area for boarders, beginners and experts alike.  There are some fantastic cruisy blues to get you started, a great off-piste playground, half pipe, board parks and boarder cross.

The size of the Paradiski area (one of the largest ski areas in the world) means there are plenty of day trips visiting other linked ski stations such as Les Arcs, Villaroger, Montalbert and Champagny.  If 420km isn’t enough for you we are also only a 50 minutes drive from both Val d’Isere/Tignes and the 3 Vallees.
