The Swiss alpine resort of Klosters is associated with the Royal Family and Prince Charles and is formed from two towns Dorf and Platz, but neither is the exclusive location as you may think. Platz has classy hotels near the station and more fizz, while Dorf remains very quiet.

Klosters offers a unique combo of a renowned mountain resort offering a diverse range of activities on offer in both the summer and winter is well suited to families with children.Nestling in what has remained the rural part of the Prättigau (Graubünden), Klosters, with its romantic village-like atmosphere, stands in stark contrast to the nearby Alpine metropolis of Davos.

The Vereina tunnel, has widened the area with even the Engadine now a direct neighbouring region.

Summer at Klosters

Excellent hiking and rambling can be had in the Prättigau/Klosters/Davos regions.

Over 700km of trails ranging from footpaths suitable for prams through to challenging mountain hikes.

Madrisa adventure park has climbing facilities for the adventurous.

Cyclists and mountain bikers will find lots of routes of all sorts of difficulty around Klosters.

The Swiss Bike Masters (120km) is one of the world’s most gruelling mountain bike races, extremely popular with amateur bikers.

Skiing at Klosters

The Gotschnabahn cable car ferries winter sports fans up into the Davos ski arena.

The smaller, sunny Madrisa ski region above Klosters is suitable for beginner skiers.

For off-piste and touring skiers, the Davos-Klosters region offers good opportunities.

Cross-country skiers will find long trails immediately near Klosters, as well as in the Landwassertal (Davos).

Snowboarders will probably prefer the Jakobshorn near Davos.

Non-skiers can keep themselves busy with winter walking paths, horse-drawn sled rides, toboggan runs and snow-shoe trekking – as well as a wide range of après-ski activities and nightlife venues in Klosters, and especially in nearby Davos.

  • Energy-encounter trail at Madrisa – the energy-encounter trail attempts to make people more aware of, and sensitise them to earth energies.

  • Davos Kirchner Museum – dedicated to the German expressionist Ernst Ludwig Kirchner (1880 - 1938), who resided in Davos from 1917.

  • Bogn Engadin Scuol – thermal baths in the Lower Engadine, which can now be reached easily thanks to the Vereina tunnel.

  • Sunniberg bridge – part of the Klosters bypass; this ingenious 525-metre-long valley bridge was awarded a civil engineering prize.

  • Salginatobel bridge near Schiers – spanning 90 metres above the Salgina brook, the reinforced concrete bridge is Switzerland’s only engineering world monument.
