Courchevel Practicalities

Practical information and Apres Ski guide to Courchevel

Based over four levels - Courchevel 1350 (aka La Praz), 1550,1650 and 1850, named after their altitudes -the atmosphere varies greatly from village to village, with a different, younger clientele being drawn to the area in recent years. Regardless of where they are staying, everyone converges on the huge terrain of the Trois Vallees ski area to take advantage of long runs and short lift queues, all groomed to immaculate status. In short, it's a French classic.

Bars and Clubs

Purple Caffe is popular, and there are also two nightclubs, Les Caves and La Grange, open until 0500, both with huge party atmospheres to go with the huge prices. For something more reasonable check out new bar Le Milk (T+33 (0)479-004883).

Best Apres-ski

Skiers from all areas head to La Santa Foret where happy hour entertains the guests with music and special drinks offers.

Eating

The range of restaurants is enormous, from Japanese at LeTen Kai (T+33 (0)479-411804) to roast game at Le Bal. For a cheaper night out, head to 1550 where pizzas at La Cortona are great value. Le Chabichou is owned by Michel Rochedy, who also runs the hotel's two-star Michelin restaurant from his kitchen. A produit-regionale menu sources the very best of local ingredients for €90 a head.
