Skiing in Courchevel

Courchevel Ski Resort Three Valleys

Courchevel Pro's

  • Courchevel caters for all types of snow seekers so if skiing is not your thing, you'll always find something else to do.
  • If you like your holiday to have a touch of luxury, you'll be spoilt rotten.
  • As part of the Trois Vallees, it's difficult to get bored of the varied terrain

Courchevel Con's

  • Easy access from neighbouring resorts leads to the best fresh snow being ransacked quickly.
  • The cost - unless you're Roman Abramovich (who tried to buy the entire village of 1850 in 2003) you'll struggle to be able to afford to do everything you'd like.

If that’s not enough then you have access the to the rest of the Three Valleys providing the largest linked ski area in the world, with 600km of maintained pistes. The valley offers great skiing all season long with 563 snow cannons and 26 piste bashers which prepare the 119 pistes located within the Courchevel valley.

The Three Valleys covers an area from Mont Blanc massif from the north to the Les Ecrins massif in the south of the valley with views of both the Italian and Swiss Alps. In just a couple of hours you can reach the summit of Trois Vallees massif in Val Thorens.

Courchevel boasts 10 restaurants on the pistes offering some of the finest food in the Alps, allowing you to sit back and relax in the mountains enjoying the stunning views and surroundings.

Courchevel is one of the most varied and extensive ski resorts with enough skiing just in Courchevel to keep a skier busy throughout a whole ski holiday.

From Courchevel there is easy access to the rest of the Trois Vallees area from Courchevel 1850 with two gondolas linking from Courchevel to Meribel and then from here you can reach the resorts of Val Thorens, St Martin de Belleville and Les Menuires.

Beginners

The nicest blues and greens are those that connect 1850 to 1650 and 1550. The pistes are wide and really well groomed so you can practise without the pressure of the busier slopes on Creux Noirs.

Intermediate

Across the Trois Vallees, there are a tremendous number of excellent blue and red runs which you'l struggle to complete in a week. If it'slong steady runs you're after, try the Chanrossa chair that will take you down through the stop zone or venture to Val Thorens or Meribel where you can take advantage of the stunning views from a different angle.

Expert

There are a few tough runs that will take you down to Le Praz, or use your Trois Vallees pass and wander over to Les Menuires where the Col de la Chambre mixes long, steep runs with some that are slightly easier.

Powder

Check out some of the off-piste around the Suisse chairlift and the Vizelle gondola. Just be prepared that powder-lovers from across the Trois Vallees might have the same idea ...

Skiing and Snowboarding in Courchevel 1850

Courchevel 1850 is the largest of the villages in Courchevel and as such is the focal point of the area. It is the most expensive of the villages but probably the best with more hotels, more restaurants, more bars, more nightclubs and more facilities and from a skiing point of view, the easiest access to the pistes.

Skiing and Snowboarding in Courchevel 1650

Courchevel 1650 is a little apart from the rest of the Three Valleys ski area, so is more peaceful and less crowded area for a skiing holiday.

There are two ski lifts into 1850, allowing easy access into the Three Valleys and day trips into Val Thorens.Courchevel 1650 it self is a pretty old village with some beautiful chalets, as well as a lively nightlife. It's also only a short bus journey from Courchevel 1850 for those wanting more evening entertainment during your ski holiday.

Skiing and Snowboarding in Courchevel 1550

Courchevel 1550 is a quiet village, offering cheaper accommodation and restaurants in comparison to the higher villages and is an ideal destination for family ski holidays.

Skiing from Courchevel 1550 is pretty much as good as anywhere in Courchevel as it is only a gondola ride from Courchevel 1850 and from there access to the rest of the ski area is simple.

But for apres ski Courchevel 1550 is flawed .. the trip by road up to Courchevel 1650 and 1850 is too far really, so Courchevel 1550 is not ideal for those people wanting to go out in the evening.

Summer in Courchevel

Courchevel's location at the heart of Olympic Savoy, abutting the Vanoise National Park and rising from 1100 to 1850 meters, makes it a remarkable destination where one may benefit from all of the healthful effects of an alpine holiday. And there is no need to be a super athlete to take advantage of the mountains when you have a choice of mountain pathways or silent, ultra-modern lifts to take you as high as 2800m.
