Skiing In Chamonix

Located in the heart of the Mont-Blanc Massif, the range of high mountains located around Chamonix provides some of the best on and off piste skiing in the Alps. The Vallee Blanche off piste area will test the best skier.

World re-known Chamonix is one of the most popular ski holiday destinations. Chamonix valley lies at the foot of Mont-Blanc -  Europe's highest mountain (4810m).

Although Chamonix lies at a relatively low altitude (1035m) the good news for skiing and snowboarding is that 90% of the ski areas are located above 2000m, making Chamonix a "guaranteed-snow" resort.

Grands Montets is a Mecca for skiers, snowboarders and freeriders but there are lots of ski possibilities available for skiers of all levels throughout the resort on their ski holidays in Chamonix.

Beginners – Although there are a number of nursery slops, Chamonix is not the ideal ski resort for beginners.

Intermediate – Le Tour is the best mountain with wide open pistes and a 8km blue run, The Vallee Blanche is Chamonix’s highlight with 22km of guides off piste down the incredible Mer de Glace glacier.

Expert – Chamonix has a number of long steep runs with a 2035-m vertical decent and accessible off-piste above the Logan cable car
