Alpe d'Huez Practicalities

Practical information and Apres Ski guide to Alpe d'Huez

Unfortunately, the purpose-built town sprawls across four separate quarters, meaning accommodation and restaurants are far apart. The Altiport complex, where most chalets are, is particularly far away from the centre. However, you can stay in the more rustic villages of Vaujany and Huez, which are linked to ADH by chairlift.

Best Après Ski

The underground is the spot for Austrian style après until late, while Melting Pot ddoes quieter drinks on the sun terrace.

Bars and Club

ADH has a lively nightlife, with 43 bars and clubs, Le Sporting on Avenue de Juex appeals to an older audience, as do Lilly Muldoon’s and Les Caves de L’Alpe in the old town. Youngsters go for O’Sharkey’s Bar, Underground, Crowded House, Zoo and Igloo disco.

Eating

There are some 60 restaurants in town but make sure you book during peak times. Favourites include Au Dahu Grille (try Rodolphe's homemade Genepi), Pizzeria La Roy Ladre and Genepi. Younger crowds enjoy the laidback atmosphere in Les Caves de I'AIpe and Lily Muldoon's. Au P'tit Creux and Au Chamois d'Or offer excellent food in atmospheric surroundings
